In Commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, the Girls Leadership Circle has officially been inaugurated at Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja, in partnership with the Women Leadership Institute Network (WLIN) Nigeria—a leading organization dedicated to girl child empowerment, leadership education and gender equality in Africa.

Successful Launch and Active Participation

The inauguration received an enthusiastic welcome from students and teachers who

eagerly awaited the WLIN delegation. A total of 30 brilliant students were enrolled as

pioneer members of the Girls Leadership Circle after submitting their registration and

parental consent forms. This initiative is designed to equip young girls with leadership skills, confidence, and moral values, positioning them to become future transformational leaders in their communities.

Addressing Initial Concerns, the Matron assigned to supervise the Circle expressed concerns regarding the existence of over 40 inactive school clubs already on record.

In response, WLIN emphasized that this program is not just another school club but a structured mentorship and leadership development platform with clear objectives and measurable impact.

WLIN assured school authorities that the program will be:

- Consistently active and coordinated

- Mentor-led and interactive

- Focused on measurable results

- Committed to long-term impact for the girl child

The students were officially introduced to the vision and mission of the Girls Leadership Circle, emphasizing themes such as self-confidence, academic excellence, leadership ethics, and social responsibility. The girls participated actively during the question-and-answer

segment. As part of their first leadership activity, they received a written essay assignment

to be submitted on Monday, 20th October 2025.

  Celebrating the Girl Child

To commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, each participant received a

special gift pack as a symbol of encouragement and celebration of girl child rights and

dignity.

The girls were also thrilled to learn that they will participate in a grand End-of-Year

Leadership Conference where they will meet students from other schools and take part in:

- Leadership debates

- Dance and talent showcases

- Motivational coaching sessions

- Mentorship networking

- Awards and recognition activities

The inauguration of the Girls Leadership Circle at Model Secondary School Maitama marks a

major step in building confident, intelligent, and visionary young women in Nigeria.

Through this project, WLIN Nigeria continues its mission to shape a generation of purpose driven female leaders who will impact society positively.
